Java desktop links of the week, May 9

A number of good links this week, particularly with further progress in a few interesting projects. Thanks to the people who email me links and suggestions, they're always appreciated! Let's get on with the show :-)

Swing

• Gerrit Grunwald has released SteelSeries 3.9, an incompatible release including a bunch of new features. SteelSeries is a great (free) library for people needing to include gauges and similar visualisations into their applications.
• In another post, Gerrit has shown how to create a 'grinded steel plate' effect in Java2D.
• Alexander Potochkin continues his series of 'Swing in a better world', this time talking about 'generics and arrays'.
• Penkov Vladimir let me know about his swinghtmltemplate project, which allows for declaring Swing user interfaces using HTML and CSS. There are plenty of examples in the previous link, and also more on the samples page.
• For people interested in porting their Swing apps to the NetBeans platform, there is an updated porting tutorial available now that NetBeans 7.0 has been released.

Miscellaneous

• Josh Marinacci has released beta 2 of Leonardo 1.0, which is an open source drawing tool written using Amino, his open source Java UI toolkit.
