Java desktop links of the week, May 30

It's been a busy week this week, with the release of the first JavaFX 2.0 beta. I look forward to seeing your blog posts over the coming weeks and months as you get better versed with the API and technologies, and as we keep rolling out beta refreshes to fix bugs, add features and improve performance.

JavaFX

Swing

  • Geertjan Wielenga has blogged about 'working with Matisse in Griffon'.
  • RenĂ© Jahn let me know about the latest SIB Visions product: VisionX. This is supposed to be a tool that is used in building business applications, and is based upon their JVx product that has been discussed in previous posts. There is also a video of their software being used, if you're interested.
  • JIDE Software released version 2.11.4 of their libraries, which is a maintenance release for the 2.x series (the changelog for all releases is also available).
  • Sammy Guergachi let me know that he is working on an 'Aurora Game Manager' project that uses Swing and Java2D.

Miscellaneous

  • Josh Marinacci has announced the release of Amino 1.0. It's a fairly impressive library - have a play with the samples to get a feel for what you can do.

That's all folks! Keep up the good work, whether that be exploring JavaFX 2.0 (if that's your thing), or just writing cool Java desktop-related software and blog posts. Catch you next week! :-)
