Another month, and another week of desktop links. I hope there is something of interest in the links below for everyone. As always, feel free to get in contact with me with anything you want me to include.
Swing
- Jens Schauder has blogged about binding Scala objects to Swing components.
- Rob Camick has created a marquee panel to scroll text message across the screen.
JavaFX
- Oracle Technical Network is doing presentations in Brisbane and Perth, Australia. One of the talks is going to be an intro to JavaFX 2.0. The day is free to attend - I'll be going to the Brisbane day.
- Tom Eugelink has blogged about in-progress JavaFX 2.0 EA APIs, specifically those related to listening to property invalidation / change events. Because these are all pre-beta APIs, there is still a chance that all of these may change to be more convenient for this kind of use case.
- Eric Bruno has blogged about a JavaFX 1.3.1-based multi-column/multi-select ListView control.
Miscellaneous
- The JavaOne 2011 call for papers has started, and is open from now until May 23. I'm hoping to see plenty of great submissions in the Java SE, Client-Side Technologies and Rich User Experiences track.
- The Oracle Technical Network interviewed John Jullion-Ceccarelli, NetBeans Engineering Manager, about NetBeans 7.0.
- Josh Marinacci has released the first beta of Leonardo 1.0.
- Geertjan Wielenga has blogged about the Griffon plugin for NetBeans IDE 7.0.
- Laurent Caron emailed me to know that he has added five new components to the opal project, which is an umbrella project for new SWT widgets.
That's that for another week. Catch you all in a weeks time :-)
